Rate of inflation across the country rose to 8.59% in June

ISLAMABAD (City News) – Inflation in the country rose to new heights in the month of June 2020. According to the Bureau of Statistics, inflation reached 8.59% in June 2020, compared to 8.2% in May and 8% in June 2019.

According to the bureau, the inflation rate in the financial year 2019-20 was 10.74 percent.

The prices of eggs rose by 21.7%, tomatoes by 13%, flour by 12%, wheat by 10.83%, spices by 5.4% and vegetables by 4% in June.

In June’s annual terms, prices of potatoes rose by 72%, lentils 71%, eggs 44%, lentils 34%, wheat flour 24%, spices 29%, ghee 24%, tomato 13.9%, cooking oil 20% and furniture prices increased by 10%.

In a single year, gas prices rose 54%, while construction material prices rose 12%, according to the statistics bureau.
