LAHORE (City News) – The Punjab government’s notification to start sugarcane crushing from November 10 has on Wednesday been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) by sugar millers.

Advocate Shehzad Ata appeared before the court on behalf of sugar mill owners and maintained that crushing of sugarcane from November 10 will reduce sugar production.

The counsel argued that sugar millers are bound to start sugarcane crushing in the last week of November and requested the court to suspend the Punjab government’s notification.

Justice Ayesha A. Malik reserved verdict in the case.
