International powers should play role to improve regional peace: PM Imran
ISLAMABAD (City News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Tuesday has said that super powers need to play their role for enhancing peace process among the states in the region.
While addressing the 20th Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of State (SCO-CHS), the premier said that coronavirus pandemic has affected over five crore people across the globe while it has also destroyed world economy.
We need to adopt joint strategy to deal with this deadly disease, he suggested.
PM Imran also urged the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and G-20 countries to help underdeveloped countries in fight against COVID-19. United Nations (UN) has to take practical steps to resolve the global issues, he added.
The premier said that all the members of SCO have to come forward for permanent peace in Afghanistan.
He further said that no one should be allowed to hurt sentiments of people by disrespecting their religions in the name of freedom of expression. The world needs interfaith harmony at this time, he went on to say.
While raising the issue of climate change, the PM said that Pakistan is playing its role to overcome environmental pollution.
